Fighting Sioux Tribe rejects Nickname
Members of the Spirit Lake Sioux tribal-against the University of North Dakota’s Fighting Sioux nickname and logo.

“(The mother) said that the use of fighting and Sioux Sioux behalf of the University of North Dakota, dishonourable and an affront to the dignity and well-being of members of Spirit Lake”, the resolution does not read.

North Dakota officials have said that the school had the support of Spirit Lake on the root nickname.
